WOO Update is here!
Five new features unlocked in the WOO App.
Today, we're excited to launch five new features that expand what the WOO platform can do. From safety tools for schools and kite centers, to rider-created events, video overlays, and team competitions, this update brings new ways to connect, progress, and ride together.
Here's what's new.
Ride with confidence
Whether you're learning to kite, teaching students, or managing a center, knowing where riders are on the water matters.
WOO Safety allows anyone to broadcast their location while riding. Enable Safety on the WOO App and you’ll generate a personal tracking link, sharable with anyone. Secure your phone in your wetsuit or impact vest, hit the water, and your position is mapped throughout the session.
All WOO Safety sessions generate a GPS recording when complete, so you’ll have a freeride session to post to your profile. GPS recordings from the phone can also be combined with jumps from the WOO sensor to create a full recording of your session.
For groups, the public safety map plots everyone’s live position, making it easy to coordinate the next downwinder or simply know who’s who on the water.
For centers, a designated “safe zone” can be plotted on the map, generating a notification if a rider leaves the area so the center can check the situation and intervene if necessary.
WOO Safety is free for riders and centers. Broadcasting requires the WOO App (iOS / Android), a cellular connection, and a safe place to store your phone while riding. Viewing Safety is visible to anyone at safety.woosports.com
Key Benefits
Live safety tracking link sharable with personal URL
Public Safety Map for your spot (who’s out, where)
Create custom safety zones with notifications
Records GPS session automatically
Safety has always been a community effort. WOO Safety helps make it easier.
Host & Promote your own Event
WOO Events - the open platform for creating kite, wing, and windsurf challenges on WOO - is now integrated into the WOO App.
Events can now be discovered, joined, and followed directly from the WOO App. Whether you're looking for a local challenge, a season-long league, or a brand event, WOO Events makes playing with your local community easy.
WOO Events are managed at events.woosports.com where any shop, brand, or organizer can host an event for the WOO community. Design your own rules, set the region, and within seconds your event will be promoted atop the feed of the WOO App.
Key Benefits
Create custom events for Kite, Wing, Windsurf communities
Public and Invite-only options
Live leaderboards for every event & discipline
Promoted through the WOO App
Free to Host and Join
From local beach battles to international tours, creating competitions has never been easier.
Ride together
Competition is more fun when you team up and ride together.
WOO Teams allows riders to create their own teams and participate in team events around the world.
Whether you're riding with friends, representing your local spot, your school, or your region, Teams adds a new level of community and friendly competition.
Similar to WOO Worlds, team challenges can be incorporated into WOO Events. This spring events like the Kite Liga Deutschland (Germany) and Red Bull Coast Clash (Belgium) are using WOO Teams to organize local clubs into a national event.
With Teams you can
Create your own team, customize identity, manage members
Join team events on WOO Events
Start your own WOO Event to play against other teams
Note: Think of your Team like a football Club for watersports. You’re a member of one Team at a time.
Teams is managed at teams.woosports.com
Bring your jump data to life
One of the most requested features is finally back!
WOO Clips allows riders to add height and airtime stats onto video clips.
Simply:
Select a session
Choose a jump
Upload your clip
Mark the takeoff moment
Export
The system automatically overlays the jump data and generates a ready-to-share video complete with WOO metrics.
Show your height and airtime alongside your best shots with a few quick clicks, powered by WOO.

Windsurfing joins kite and wing to complete the quiver trifecta on WOO.
Quiver now supports adding a windsurf sail to your session, including models from popular sail manufacturers like JP, Duotone, North, Starboard, and more.
For GPS sessions, recording is supported by phone or smartwatch, with native apps for Garmin, Apple Watch and Android Watch.
For jumping, we recommend mounting the WOO sensor on the centerline of the board, between the footstrap and mast track, taking care to prep the board before attaching the VHB sticker. Windsurfers can also use the free WOO Watch apps for Apple and Android to estimate jump height.
When creating a WOO Event, organizers can specify Windsurf as a quiver option alongside Kite and Wing, allowing for communal challenges, or specific challenges for each sport separately.
